getting into peak season

All systems go at Pennington Market Farm these days.

  • We’ve been trying to bring some lettuce to the market the past month or so. I keep saying “we’re almost done”, but, truly, the big greenhouse project is almost done… if the definition of “done” is being able to grow a batch of lettuce. Wiring the fans up currently, and then it’s building and aerating a pool… and then we can start growing.
  • The Hidden Julles herb sales have come to a close, so we’ve been re-routing our herbs to the farmer’s market, and those have been doing well there.
  • Cherry tomatoes are fully underway in our 50-foot tomato greenhouse. We anticipate being able to bring cherries to the market late June / early July.

Market weather can be fickle sometimes… at this last June 7 market, we had a 10-minute torrential downpour early on, but by the end of the market everything was dry and the sun was shining… as if nothing had happened. Just gotta roll with it! Always great seeing everyone.
